New Beers in Town

July 24th, 2008

Hey guys and gals! I just wanted to let you know about some of the new beers that we just got in. They are very, and I mean very, tasty.  They are distributed through Lee Edwards Dist. company and are produced in Belgium. Despite the price being on the high side, they are well worth the cost.

The line consist’s of 10 new products and here they are with a little description and the cost of each.

St. Louis Framboise  750ML  $11.69

This raspberry beer is made from traditional Gueuze Lambic, to which 25% of fresh raspberry juice and natural sugar is added.  This makes for clear, yet dark red color with a pink head. . By the way, how can it be clear and dark at the same time?) With it’s fruity character, this is a beer which is tempting when drunk young or old.   ABV  2.8%

St. Louis Kriek  750ML  $11.69

This is a cherry beer  made from traditional Gueuze Lambic, to which 25% of fresh black cherry juice and natural sugar is added.  A clear, golden beer is obtained with a pink head.  ABV 3.2%

Delirium Nocturnum  4 pack  11.2oz bottles  $19.49

Another great brew produced by the Hughe-Melle Brewery. The body of Nocturnum is bursting with raisin flaor, bitter sweet chocolate, and aniseed.  The finish is long and developes into a hoppy (love those hops!) aftertaste.  It is a triple fermentation ale using three different yeast strains and five different malts.  Incredibly well-balanced for a ale this high in alcohol.  ABV  8.5%

Delirium Tremens  4 pack 11.2oz bottles  $19.49

The name Tremens speaks for itself.  The color is golden and the head is creamy and light.  The aftertaste is fruity, almost cherry.  It has a big body, a rich mouthy feel, and a long, sweet aftertaste. Touted to be one of the 50 greatest beers in the world.  ABV 8.5%

Kasteel Donker  4 pack  11.2oz bottles  $18.59

It has a smooth, toffee-like start, a deep, rounded fruitiness with Port-like notes in the finish.  It is a immensely rich beer.  (I really tasted a nice SWEET chocalate flavor to this one, very unusual.)  ABV 11%

Kasteel Triple  4 pack  11.2oz bottles  $18.59

The intense Kasteelbier Goulden Triple is characterized by an outstanding blend of noble malts and hops, which lend it a refined aroma and exceptional flavor.  ABV 11%

Kastee Rouge  4 pack  11.2oz bottles  $18.59

This beer combines the unparalleled qualiy of the past and a resolutely modern taste.  Kasteelbier is a brown craft beer with secondary fermentation, mild and tasty, fullbodied and creamy. It has a shelf life of several years.  (Very cherry tasting)  ABV  11%

Samichlaus  4 pack  11.2oz bottles  $21.99

This beer is brewed once a year on December 6th. It is stored and matured for over 10 months before it is bottled. Samichlaus can mature many years in the bottle. Older classes win at complexity and the aging adds to it’s creamy warm outlet.  This beer can be handed to heavy meals and desserts, particulary to chocolate. Shelf life is 20 years.  (If anyone has tried Avery Mephostophiles, this is his distant cousin)  ABV  14%

Carolus Triple  4 pack  11.2oz  bottles  $17.89

Pale yellow with a gold hue, this beer pours with a rich, rocky, frothy head.  Floral spicy hop aromas.  Full bodied and substantial with a complex texture and an expansive mouthfeel. Finishes with lingering fruity notes and delicate spicy hop flavors.  ABV  9%

Carolus Ambrio  4 pack  11.2oz  bottles  $17.89

Gouden Carolus Ambrio, the third color of the “Great to beer a Belgian” Tricolour.  Ambrio is a ‘amber’  colored beer, brewed with ‘brio’.  In the past, every town in Belgium had its own beer typical to its specific area.  Ambrio has its roots in the traditional beer of Mechelen known as “Mechelchen Bruynen” or “Mechelen Brown”.  This brewery is the only one still brewing this type of beer.  The recipe dates back to the 14th century.  ABV  8.5%
